WeWild Africa CEO Breakfast with the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce

Incredible energy at the recent WeWild Africa CEO Breakfast with the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce last week!

We are on the brink of something big. A Big Five reserve: a massive wild landscape that strengthens local pride, identity, and culture right in Middelburg’s backyard. Unlocking the potential of this landscape will drive economic growth throughout the province through tourism, angling, hospitality, and broader business opportunities, increasing revenue and land value.

A protected Loskop Dam offers families and future generations the chance to experience a pristine natural environment close to home, while also delivering cleaner, more reliable water to all downstream agriculture and communities.

The work is already well underway, with millions of rands invested in hyacinth control, rhino dehorning, road grading, infrastructure upgrades, and enhanced security across the reserve.

What came through clearly in the meeting is that a provincial reserve like this can serve as a blueprint for a sustainable model of protecting nature across Africa, if it is supported by local communities and business leaders.

We are now at a point where a surge of CapEx can transform the reserve into a fully functioning Big Five destination. Middelburg businesses are invited to sign a pledge to support the Loskop Dam Nature Reserve and become part of building this landscape.

To get involved, please email us with your interest. We would love to have you join us in building something truly special in our backyard.
